"Maunaloa" jewelry refers to a signature design line by John Roberts that featured handcarved representations of the Maunaloa flower (also known as the "vining" Maunaloa of the Canavalia cathartica).

John Roberts was a prominent Honolulu based artist and carver active primarily from the 1930's through the 1950's. He was born 1910 in Honolulu, Hawaii and died in 1999 age 88. He is best known for his finely detailed jewelry, ornaments, and sculptures, which are highly valued by collectors today.

His work has been exhibited at The Honolulu Museum of Art and has appeared in major auction houses such as Bonham's and Christie's.
